.net magazine gets redesign and new Editor

Contemporary look and feel for UK’s best-selling web title

Contemporary look and feel for UK’s best-selling web title 3/07/06 – Future has unveiled an exciting new redesign for .net, the UK’s best-selling web magazine, and has also appointed a new Editor.

Dan Oliver – now in his ninth year at Future – joins .net as Editor having overseen the recent redesign of sister-title Practical Web Design. Previously Deputy Editor of .net between 2000 and 2004, Dan will also be joined by new Art Editor, Chris Bates.

Since launching in 1994 .net has catered to web users with a fanatical interest in design, development and online culture, and this comprehensive redesign sees the magazine adopt a contemporary look and feel, inspired by key elements of website design.

The redesign retains a popular mix of features, 30 pages of tutorials, and insightful reviews. Readers will also find a number of new sections, including an exclusive monthly interview; regular opinion pieces from the world’s best web designers; and Feed, a 12-page section packed with the hottest websites, podcasts, gadgets and events.

Dan Oliver Editor of .net says:

“I’m delighted to be returning to .net. We plan to celebrate the best the internet has to offer via the redesigned magazine; a new website; and the first .net podcast, which will launch later this year. These are exciting times for anyone with a passion for the web, and we plan to be right in the mix!”

Publisher, Kelley Corten added:

“With the internet currently enjoying a renaissance period, this is the perfect time to reinvigorate the design and content of the UK’s most established web magazine. I’m delighted with what the team has achieved, and with the appointment of Dan as Editor I expect the magazine to go from strength to strength. Dan has a real passion for the internet, and he’ll ensure that .net continues to set the agenda, and provide its readers with insightful features and tutorials.”

To coincide with the redesign, The August issue of .net is a redesign special – highlighting the best ways to spruce up your code, logo and pretty much anything else to do with your website. Other highlights include an interview with Gary McKinnon, the British hacker currently facing extradition to the US; an exclusive look at how China is censoring the net; and the introduction of .net’s new ‘advisory panel’, made up of leading figures in the web community who will be helping to ensure the magazine delivers relevant and best practise advice.

The August issue of .net is on sale now, with a coverprice of £5.99 – including a free CD.
