Future’s Performance Vauxhall show extends to a two day event

Extended features take PV Show to full weekend event

Extended features take PV Show to full weekend event The Performance Vauxhall Show, the UK’s biggest and best all-Vauxhall event organised by Future, the special-interest media group, is growing from a one-day show to a full two-day action packed weekend event.

Launched in 2002 by Total Vauxhall magazine, the show will take place again at Santa Pod Raceway, Northants on the weekend of the 6th-7th June, with camping now available on site on Friday. The PV Show in 2008 saw over 12,000 Vauxhall enthusiasts attend the event, an increase of 8% on 2007, and attendance has seen an increase of almost 25% in the last two years.

For 2009, Saturday and Sunday will feature all-day Vauxhall-only ‘Run What You Brung’ action on Santa Pod’s quarter-mile strip, with prizes up for grabs for the fastest times of the weekend. There will be spectacular demo runs from the 270mph Fireforce jet car and various Vauxhall-based drag cars, including Andy Frost’s awesome 2200bhp Vauxhall Victor.

The huge club display area will feature 2500 cars where you’ll find every kind of performance and modified Vauxhall – from stripped out “11-second” Novas, incredibly-styled Corsa and Astra show cars and the rapid VXR’s. The ‘Park ‘n’ Pose’ area will also give an opportunity for proud owners of Vauxhalls to show off their cars, and might even include a few of the “oldies but goodies” from a few years back – remember Chevettes, Vivas and Crestas?

With the massive trade area, cars for sale, bags of entertainment on both nights, and hosted by TV star and auto-legend Mike Brewer, it’s the one weekend in the show calendar that no Vauxhall fan wants to miss!

Steve Foster, Events Manager for the PV Show said:

“Given the rapid growth of the show over the past seven years, moving to a full two day event was a natural progression. We are really excited about the additional features and attractions the extra day will allow us to bring to the event and expect 2009 to be fantastic weekend festival of celebration for all Vauxhall fans.”

Gez Jones, Associate Publisher for Future’s Performance Automotive portfolio said:

“Since its launch in ’02, the Performance Vauxhall Show has grown beyond all expectation – to a point where the 08 show attracted so many GM enthusiasts, Santa Pod ran at capacity. To celebrate this fact, create a festival atmosphere for the show’s die-hard fans, and support the increased interest around the Vauxhall brand thanks to GM’s investment into the sporting VXR range; the Performance Vauxhall Show is to become a two day event. With camping from Friday night, extended track access, and double the entertainment; 2009 is set to be a vintage year.”
