Site delivers near 300% traffic increase since relaunch
30/01/09 – Future, the special-interest media group, has strengthened the management of its recently relaunched Total Film website (www.totalfilm.com ) – with two company stalwarts taking senior roles.
Taking control of online editorial, Andy Lowe becomes Digital Editor and is joined by Will Groves, the site’s new Website Manager. Groves will work closely with the Group Publisher, Simon Maxwell on commercial deals and development of the fast growing site.
Since the relaunch of TotalFilm.com in October 2008, HBX statistics reveal the site now reports over 2m page impressions a month, a massive increase of almost 300%, thanks to a comprehensive structural overhaul and editorial refocus.
The successful relaunch of TotalFilm.com, saw it rebuilt from the ground up, to focus on dedicated ‘hubs’ of individual movie specific content, users comments and external links.
With upgraded navigation and improved contextual linking, the new look TotalFilm.com also makes it even easier for users to find the films they are looking for. Creating “film hubs” – TotalFilm.com celebrates new movies from the moment they are announced, bringing together every drop of news, features and media for the film on one page.
Andy Lowe takes over the Digital Editor position from George Walter, who was seconded from GamesRadar to help relaunch TotalFilm.com and train its newly formed editorial team.
With almost 15 years experience as a journalist, Andy has been associated with the Total Film brand since its launch a decade ago – with previous roles including Reviews Editor and Associate Editor. He also writes weekly columns on videogames and DVDs for the LondonPaper.
Fellow Future veteran Will Groves, becomes Website Manager. This newly created role is split across several of Future’s key online brands and sees Will work with closely with editorial and senior management on strategy and delivery. Leading development work on the site, he will ensure that TotalFilm.com continues to grow, securing additional revenue through affiliate and content syndication deals.
Will Groves joined Future 13 years ago as a Staff Writer for GamesMaster magazine, and became Editor of the company’s fledgling GamesRadar network back in 2000, before becoming a Senior Online Editor in 2005 – instrumental in launching sites including MusicRadar.com and T3.com
Future will continue to grow and develop TotalFilm.com, further increasing its integrated video offering; including including trailers, red carpet footage, interviews and Total Film’s own unique content – showcasing the brand’s strong identity and irreverent tone.
Simon Maxwell is Group Publisher of Future’s film portfolio:
“I’m delighted that the reach and influence of the Total Film brand continues to grow at a phenomenal rate. Even in challenging times for media – we have seen massive website growth, and a promising start of our compact print edition and live events. Both Andy and Will have been key parts of our growth story for many years, and have been at the heart of the successful TotalFilm.com relaunch. We’ve got some exciting plans for 2009 and TotalFilm.com is at the forefront of these developments.”
