Nial Ferguson promoted to Publishing Director – Technology and Entertainment Lifestyle; Paul Button joins Future from Haymarket
09/02/2009 – Future, the special-interest media group, today announces the promotion of Nial Ferguson to Publishing Director, Technology and Entertainment Lifestyle.
In his new role, Nial will oversee Future’s flagship men’s specialist lifestyle brands, including T3, Classic Rock and Total Film, working closely with the established team of Group Publisher, Simon Maxwell and Publisher, Chris Ingham.
Nial joined Future from Bauer Consumer Media in March 2008 where he was Deputy Managing Director for their men’s lifestyle division.
With Nial’s promotion, Future also announces the appointment of Paul Button as Publisher for its flagship technology lifestyle brand, T3.
Paul joins Future from Haymarket where he was responsible for the commercial development of their consumer electronics brands including Stuff. With a strong track record in both print and online, he was responsible for the commercial development of the portfolio including StuffTV and the Stuff Awards. Prior to his two years at Haymarket, Paul spent eight years at VNU where he was Head of Sales.
Simon Wear, Chief Operating Officer, Future UK said:
“The great myth is that the appetite among men for ‘lifestyle’ magazines has disappeared. Not true. But their appetites have changed. Our experience shows that what affluent, informed men want today are magazines and content that have the production values traditionally associated with lifestyle magazines, combined with the editorial quality and specialist appeal that niche titles provide.
“With these new senior appointments, and our strong stable of men’s specialist brands, Future is in a fantastic position to drive the market in developing the kind of content – in print, online and events – that men really want.”
Nial Ferguson added:
“It feels like a very exciting time for the specialist men’s lifestyle market. We have some exceptionally strong brands – Total Film, Classic Rock and T3 – that have each carved out unique positions in their sectors. Thanks to the skills and experience of our publishing and editorial teams, we’re really well placed to develop these portfolios even further.”
