Agency develops advertising sales service with UK’s largest civil service trade union
FuturePlus – the customer publishing agency of special-interest media group Future – has won the contract to provide advertising sales services to the Public and Commercial Services Union trade union.
The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) is the sixth largest trade union in the UK, with over 300,000 members. They are organised throughout the civil service and government agencies, making them the UK’s largest civil service trade union.
The PCS publishes 17 sector magazines, which go directly to members working in specific government departments such as the Ministry of Defence, Home Office, Ministry of Justice, Department for Work and Pensions, HM Customs and Revenue and the Welsh Assembly. The main magazine, View is published 10 times a year and goes out to the full 300,000 membership, informing members about the role of the organisation, ongoing events and activities.
FuturePlus will be providing advertising sales across all magazines, including display and insert sales, as well as providing production services and assisting in their reader research. As part of the contract the team will also launch advertising on the PCS.org.uk website, utilising Future’s extensive knowledge in online development. The contact will last for up to 5 years, and is the first commercial ad-sales only deal which FuturePlus has won.
FuturePlus has a strong heritage of working with Unions – already producing magazines for the Musicians Union and GMB. FuturePlus recently picked up TUC Communications Awards for its work with the Musicians’ Union on its magazine, Musician and its annual handbook. Adding the PCS to the list, FuturePlus now represents two of the five largest unions in the UK.
Tom Grinyer, Director of Communications and Campaigns for PCS said:
“We are pleased to have appointed FuturePlus to handle our advertising, and for the first time online advertising. They are building an excellent reputation in the trade union sector. We hope over the coming years they will help us continue to grow our advertising revenue, an important income source for the union. “
Jayne Caple, Director of FuturePlus UK said:
“We are delighted to have won the contract with the PCS, and are looking forward to working with them and developing our partnership. This is an important strategic step for FuturePlus, building our strong portfolio working with unions, and strengthening our position as a leading customer publisher. “
