Future’s movie brand continues innovation with foil cover treatment
02/03/09 – Future’s Total Film celebrates the eagerly-anticipated return of Star Trek to the big screen later this year with four exclusive covers utilising an innovative new foil cover treatment.
The latest issue of Total Film goes on sale Thursday 5th March and offers readers four attention-grabbing Star Trek covers. Using an innovative method of printing pioneered in Japan, the cover is printed directly onto foil with UV-cured inks for eye-catching results.
Bringing the method to the UK for the first time, movie fans and Star Trek enthusiasts can choose from covers emblazoned with either Kirk, Spock, Uhura or the lead villain, Nero – each split equally across the print run.
Created with the support of Paramount Pictures, the exclusive Star Trek cover sees Total Film continue its successful strategy of creating unique covers that engage with movie enthusiasts and celebrate the biggest releases.
Along with its collectors’ covers for movies like the Dark Knight and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Total Film recently celebrated Terminator 4 with a cover that included red light-up LED eyes for the iconic T-800 cyborg.
Future’s continued investment in Total Film sees the brand further increase its reach and influence amongst movie enthusiasts.
Since relaunching in October last year, the TotalFilm.com website recently announced a 300% increase in page impressions, whilst its print counterpart has nudged further towards the 90,000 circulation milestone reporting an increase in the latest ABC audit.
The Star Trek theme continues inside the April issue of Total Film, with an exclusive look at the new movie – catching up with Director and Creator of Lost, JJ Abrams and the star-studded cast. Total Film also delivers its complete history of Star Trek, from the original 60s TV series, to the spin-off movies and beyond.
Total Film also talks with Gwyneth Paltrow and delivers the definitive verdict on the critically acclaimed superhero movie, Watchmen. The AtoZ of comedy offers Total Film’s perfect antidote to the current doom and gloom, whilst Nick Frost reveals more about his role in the forthcoming Britcom, The Boat that Rocked.
Simon Maxwell is Group Publisher of Future’s film portfolio:
“Continued investment sees the Total Film brand grow in stature and influence, attracting larger print and online audiences. We have always prided ourselves on delivering eye-catching covers, and our readers love them.
“Star Trek is set to be one of the biggest movies in 2009 – a major reboot of the much-loved franchise, a harder sci-fi edge for blockbuster season. With so many films to be excited about this year, Total Film is helping the industry and enthusiasts celebrate the very best.”
The April issue of Total Film with four exclusive Star Trek covers goes on sale Thursday, 5th March with a coverprice of £3.90.
