Total Film takes movie lovers into the third dimension

Even the adverts go 3D as Future’s film bible champions the future of cinema

30/03/09– Total Film – Future’s fast-growing movie brand, is celebrating the year film goes 3D with a special issue, where even the adverts are three dimensional.

With film studios gearing up to release over a dozen blockbusters in 3D this year, and movies like Disney’s Bolt 3D beating previous box office records, Total Film reveals everything cinema enthusiasts need to know about the biggest advance in movie technology since the advent of colour film in 1935.

Inside the June issue (on sale 30th April) of Total Film there are 24 pages of editorial dedicated to 3D, with more than thirty 3D images plus a pair of glasses and the chance to grab tickets for a secret free screening of a 3D movie. The supplement will champion 3D films like Avatar, Tintin and Pixar’s latest incredible adventure Up – all due for release before Christmas.

Even the print adverts in the supplement have the ability to be converted into 3D – so far, major film studios, 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, Universal pictures and leading cinema chain ODEON have all signed up for special adverts. Future have teamed up with a 3D print specialist to allow all advertisers to add an extra dimension to their traditional print creative, converting existing adverts into 3D, further driving reader engagement.

Future will also continue the 3D celebration throughout the month of May, with a special section of its successful TotalFilm.com website devoted to a new selection of 3D images and trailers, giving readers another chance to use their glasses and experience unique 3D images and advertisements.

Simon Maxwell, Group Publisher of Future’s film portfolio, including Total Film, said:

“Total Film is cementing its reputation as the movie brand that looks forward to everything that’s exciting about movies. Cinema has a very rich, exciting past and a thrilling, vibrant future, so it’s great to offer our readers an insight into the next generation of film with this special 3D supplement.

“There’s nothing bigger in cinema right now than the 3D revolution and we’re delighted to celebrate it with the movie industry and our readers. Even advertisers have the chance to get involved – what better than a 3D version of their advert to give Total Film readers a unique perspective on their brand?”

Future’s continued investment in Total Film sees the brand further increase its reach and influence among movie enthusiasts. Since relaunching in October last year, the TotalFilm.com website has integrated over 9,500 pieces of video across its site and recently enjoyed a 500% increase in page impressions, while its print counterpart has nudged further towards the 90,000 circulation milestone reporting an increase in the latest ABC audit.

The June issue of Total Film, with the 3D supplement, secret 3D screening and glasses goes on sale April 30th, with a coverprice of £ 3.90.
