Future’s Trucking magazine celebrates 25 years with special anniversary edition

UK’s biggest road transport magazine reaches milestone 300th issue

UK’s biggest road transport magazine reaches milestone 300th issueFuture’s Trucking magazine, Britain’s best road transport monthly, is celebrating a quarter of a century on the newsstand.
Launched in 1984, Trucking is the UK’s quality commercial vehicle magazine. Each month it brings readers the best in road transport journalism, including unique independent ‘real-life’ comparative road-tests using fleets’ own working trucks, operator profiles, first drives of new models and informative columns written by people at the heart of the transport business.

Trucking’s news coverage is the most in-depth and extensive of any road transport monthly. Separate sections are dedicated to the UK industry, operators, drivers, and international news. There’s a comprehensive legal advice section too.

To commemorate its 300th issue, Trucking is featuring a special 40 page pull out and keep supplement. Celebrating milestones in the world of trucking over the past 25 years, this takes a look at trucks that have made an impact on the industry, such as the Mercedes-Benz Actros — an all-new truck that used all-new technology.

Renault’s Magnum broke new barriers at its launch, as did the MAN TGA. But no review of trucks would be complete without mention of Scania’s legendary V8s (which celebrate 40 years of production this year). The supplement is also peppered throughout with highlights from early issues of Trucking which include truck launches, news and other poignant facts and points of interest.

Steev Hayes, Editor of Trucking, said:

“The supplement offers the reader an insight into what has happened within the industry over the past 25 years. Some of the most important changes in truck build and technology are included, with mention of important events that have taken place during that period.

“That the industry is having an extremely tough time right now will come as no surprise to anyone. Sales of new and used trucks have plummeted, trade shows have been cancelled and the industry’s belt has been well and truly tightened. However, because of the nature of the business and resilience of those involved in it, there is every reason to believe we’ll all weather the storm and come out of this in fairly good shape. Then we can look forward and begin planning for the next 25 years!”

Publisher of Trucking magazine, Charley Davies said:
“The first truck was produced over 100 years ago – rather earlier than the first issue of Trucking! – and we’re delighted to celebrate our quarter century and the metal that is at the heart of it all.”

Issue 300 of Trucking goes on sale on the 7th May, priced at £2.99. The June issue of the magazine includes a feature on the dangers of ice-road trucking on Canada’s frozen lakes and 90-tonne trucks tested in Sweden.
