Heavy metal bible partners with Yuza Mobile to reveal new app
30/07/09 – Metal Hammer, Future’s fast-growing heavy metal music brand, has partnered with Yuza Mobile for the launch of its very own iPhone application.
Created by Yuza Mobile in their proprietary Hot Key publishing platform, the Metal Hammer application is available for FREE through the Apple iTunes store. The application is the first from Future’s special-interest portfolio, and complements Metal Hammer’s existing print, online and live event presence.
The Metal Hammer app is the loudest iPhone application for heavy metallers – promising fans of acts like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Lamb of God and Trivium up-to-the-minute insider news and exclusive on-the-road and backstage video content.
Bringing together content from the popular MetalHammer.co.uk website and its associated Facebook, Twitter and YouTube feeds, the iPhone application also gives fans the chance to buy music from iTunes, with playlist recommendations from metal’s biggest names to view regularly updated gig listings and even buy tickets.
Chris Ingham, Publisher of Future’s Classic Rock and Metal Hammer, said:
“The strategy of developing Metal Hammer’s reach and influence beyond the traditional print space is delivering fantastic results. Our print sales have continued to grow as we have exposed more heavy metal enthusiasts to the brand through our digital and event strategies. Fans will find our new iPhone app invaluable, as Yuza Mobile made it easy for enthusiasts to keep up to date with their favourite metal acts. Having also launched Metal Hammer radio shows with both Rock Radio and NME Radio, we have ambitious plans to further develop the brand.”
Richard Skaife, CEO of Yuza Mobile added:
“We are delighted to be working with Metal Hammer on this new dawn in content publishing. By embracing this new platform, Metal Hammer is able to reach out to real music fans with exciting and dynamic content. Our Hot Key system gives Future the opportunity to introduce new interactive elements to the Metal Hammer app as they launch.”
The Metal Hammer Hot Key app is now available through the iTunes store.
