Sean Lock for Future’s Golden Joystick Awards

Comedian announced as host for record-breaking video games awards show

08/10/09 – The Golden Joystick Awards is delighted to announce Sean Lock as host of the 27th annual awards ceremony.

One of the finest and most original comedians around today, Lock is taking the helm for one of the interactive entertainment industry’s biggest events. He joins an illustrious club of past presenters that includes Matt Lucas, Frankie Boyle, Jimmy Carr and Jonathan Ross.

The award-winning comedian features regularly as a captain on Channel 4’s “8 Out of 10 Cats” and has become a British TV favourite, through his appearances on the BBC’s QI.

The 2009 awards are already the most successful in its rich history, smashing its previous voting record and getting close to the 1,000,000 mark for the first-time.

Emma Parkinson, Organiser of the Golden Joystick Awards said:

“This year’s Golden Joystick Awards are already the most successful ever in terms of votes cast. We’re delighted that gamers have been inspired to vote in their hundreds of thousands by the very best that today’s video games industry has to offer. We look forward to ensuring the event itself is a fitting celebration of entertainment’s most vibrant industry.”

Featuring 15 gamer-voted categories, the Golden Joystick Awards is the world’s longest-running video games awards, first held back in 1982. With just a few tables remaining, almost 800 guests will be entertained at the ceremony.
