Future strengthens Digital Camera and PhotoPlus with new Editors

20/11/09 – Future, the special-interest media group, has today announced the appointment of new Editors for its two photography titles, Digital Camera and PhotoPlus.

Recognising and developing internal talent, Geoff Harris moves from PhotoPlus to take up the Editor’s post on Digital Camera Magazine, while Chris George is promoted to Editor of PhotoPlus.

Geoff Harris takes the Editor’s role on Digital Camera Magazine – Future’s flagship photography brand, following the move of former Editor Marcus Hawkins to the company’s recently launched PhotoRadar.com online destination.

Geoff will work closely with Group Publisher Matt Pierce and Group Senior Editor, Paul Newman, and is briefed to further develop the Digital Camera brand across multiple channels: in print, digitally through the PhotoRadar.com network and through live events, including Digital Camera’s Photographer of the Year – the UK’s biggest photography contest.

Formerly Associate Editor of PhotoPlus, Chris George joined Future for the magazine’s launch in 2007. A respected author and former Deputy Editor of Amateur Photographer, Chris brings a wealth of photographic knowledge, a successful writing career and huge enthusiasm to the role.  He has been briefed to continue rapid growth and development of PhotoPlus, which announced an ABC of 31,255 (July-Dec 08 period)

Geoff Harris joined Future in 2002 and worked across the company’s sector-leading computing portfolio, heading up the Microsoft licensed Windows XP: The Official Magazine before becoming launch Editor of PhotoPlus in September 2007.

Matt Pierce, Group Publisher of Future’s digital creative and photography portfolios, said:

“These promotions are well-deserved. Geoff and Chris have impeccable track records in the photography sector and they’re armed with a wealth of new editorial initiatives to further develop these respected brands.  Working closely with other senior team members, they will both help us drive further growth in print and beyond using multiple channels such as PhotoRadar.com and our branded live events.”
