PowerOn wins major publishing award for Roland UK

02/12/09 – PowerOn, Roland UK’s customer magazine, has won the hotly contested “Best Specialist Communication Award” at the prestigious International Customer Publishing Awards, announced last week in London.

Hosted by the Association of Publishing Agencies (APA), the awards celebrate outstanding achievements in the customer publishing industry.  Roland UK’s PowerOn competed amongst 400 entries across 25 categories, which included international magazines for the first-time.

PowerOn – the magazine for Roland & Boss users was relaunched by Roland UK in partnership with the award-winning FuturePlus earlier this year.   Roland reinvigorated the title as it sought to drive brand loyalty amongst its customers, encouraging sales of its kit to existing users and aspiring musicians.

Scooping nominations in three APA categories, PowerOn won the “Best Specialist Communication Award” beating a diverse shortlist of entries, including Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Dulux, The White Company and Williams F1.  PowerOn was praised by judges for its “genuine endorsement of the brand and the products”, whilst celebrating its “modern feel that inspires loyalty within the reader.”

PowerOn was also highly commended in “Best Integrated Marketing Solution”, whilst the magazine editor for FuturePlus, Simon Kirrane was recognised in the “Editor of the Year” shortlist.

Martyn Hopkins, Brand Manager for Roland UK, said:

“Having relaunched PowerOn earlier this year, we are delighted to have scooped such a prestigious honour. We knew our customers enjoyed PowerOn and it’s incredibly reassuring to see the APA judges rating our work.  Alongside the team at FuturePlus, we put great effort into producing each issue of PowerOn – which continues to drive customer engagement and return on investment.”

Jayne Caple, Director of FuturePlus UK, added:

“We are delighted that PowerOn has received the recognition it deserves, and Roland UK have been a pleasure to work with.  Partnering with passionate advocates of their product range makes it each to reach out to their customers with a fantastic magazine that musicians want to read from cover to cover.”
