Future’s TechRadar stretches its lead as UK number one consumer technology website

26/01/11 Future, the special-interest media group and publisher of TechRadar, has today announced that TechRadar (www.techradar.com), the UK’s number one consumer technology news and reviews site, has passed the 1.72 million UK unique users mark for the first time in December 2010.

A massive 70% year-on-year increase, these latest figures from SiteStat and Google (http://bit.ly/fdRDEH]) have confirmed that TechRadar.com has increased its lead over CNET UK, Pocket-Lint and Trusted Reviews which it overtook at the start of 2010.

Launched at the end of 2007 by Future and focusing on detailed reviews, quality features and the latest technology news, TechRadar.com has, in just two and a half years, become the UK’s leading consumer electronics news and reviews site with 4.78 million global uniques in December, according to Sitestat.

This success has been propelled by strong demand for authoritative product reviews, with the site’s mobile phone coverage proving especially attractive during the busy Christmas period.

As a result, the TechRadar team have now recruited a new Staff Writer – Katie Solomon, who has just joined from Recombu.com, the phone site. Based in TechRadar’s London office, she will be responsible for writing news and phone reviews.

Nick Merritt, Publisher for Future’s TechRadar said:

“It’s been a fantastic year for TechRadar and topping it off with an enormous 1.72 million UK uniques is a great testament to the trust our readers have in the quality of our reviews. When money is tight, it’s even more important for people to make informed buying decisions so it’s great that so many have responded so well to our highly detailed and in-depth advice.”
