Future’s Total Guitar reveals a rocking new look

Future, the special-interest media group and UK’s leading music-making publisher has unveiled a rocking new look for Total Guitar, Europe’s best-selling guitar magazine.

On sale 18th March, the redesigned issue of Total Guitar will give readers a better reading experience; with more pages, a wider format, new features and columns and a more refined layout and design with a sharper, cleaner look and improved photography.

The magazine experience will also be supported through multiplatform channels – guitarists will be able to read gear reviews in the magazine, listen to tracks on the cover-mounted audio CD and watch video tutorials online, creating a fantastic all-round user experience.

The redesigned Total Guitar will increase pagination to 180 pages, an addition of an extra 32 pages. The width of the magazine will also increase, to allow for transcriptions and tablature to be easier to read, and the cover price will increase to £5.50.

The ‘Monitor’ news section will expand in size and will feature new bands, gear and artist news, interviews with established guitar heroes and songwriters and a brand new pub quiz column.

The ever-popular ‘Learn to Play’ section will also be bigger, with six full songs (previously three) from a wide range of genres, which will be supported by a ‘making of the song story’ as well as a backing track on the accompanying CD. Three of these songs will be transcribed in guitar tab and three will be presented as video lessons, which will be hosted on www.musicradar.com/totalguitar.

Aimed at all levels of guitarist, the new ‘Learn to Play’ section will show readers how to set up their guitars, amps and pedals, along with plenty of technical advice on how to play the song and chords.

The new look ‘Gear’ section will feature more gear reviews and head to head product tests, with more emphasis on the photography of the guitars themselves. A new ‘Final Countdown’ column rounds off the redesign with a humorous back-page regular.

Stephen Lawson, Editor of Total Guitar said:

“I’m incredibly excited about the new look, especially the prospect of seeing that first, fat issue on the newsstands. Our aim was to make Total Guitar an exciting, engaging magazine that would appeal to guitar players of all abilities. Sure, there’s more music – and we’re really proud of the improvements we’ve made there – but perhaps more importantly, there’s more to read too.”

Issue 213 of Total Guitar goes on sale 18th March priced at £5.50.
