Blondie’s much-anticipated album ‘Panic Of Girls’ is released today in partnership with Future Publishing in the form of a unique Blondie Fan Pack available on the UK magazine newsstand.
‘Panic of Girls’, is available to buy from today only as part of an official collector’s magazine and gift pack from UK newsstands – retailing at the premium price of £14.99.
The special fan pack is complete with two extra bonus tracks and a 132 page deluxe magazine that charts the recording of the album and celebrates the band’s rich history and includes many never before seen pictures from Blondie’s own archive. Following this, the sole album will be physically released on July 4th 2011.
The Blondie ‘Fanpack’ is a collaboration between Blondie and Future Publishing and will be distributed in an innovative new way to over 3,000 non-traditional music retail outlets on the high street including W.H. Smith, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose and all main newsagents, plus traditional partners such as HMV, Play and Amazon.
Chris Ingham, Future Publishing Music Group Publisher, says: “Future’s Fan Pack format is already a proven success, with great sales delivered for the unique, collectible Fan Packs we’ve created for new Slash and Motorhead albums under the Classic Rock banner in the last six months. This partnership with Blondie takes the Future Fan Pack format into the mainstream: delivering a new album, with exclusive-to-us extra tracks, in a deluxe format with a bespoke magazine and a host of exclusive extras – and all for a premium price.
“The opportunity is so simple its genius – putting high quality new music product with must-have added value editorial content into a retail environment – the UK newsstand – which is ten times the footprint of traditional music retail space. Pre-sales are strong and Future continues to turn up the dial on publishing innovation”
‘Panic of Girls’ will be the band’s ninth studio album following ‘The Curse of Blondie’, which was released back in 2003.
Debbie, Chris and Clem have once again united to create this brand new album, produced by Jeff Saltzman (The Killers) and Kato Khandwala (My Chemical Romance, Papa Roach). The new album promises to encapsulate the true character and spirit of the legendary sound of Blondie. The album was written and recorded in a number of locations in the US, including New York, New Jersey and Los Angeles.
The video for “Mother,” received a first play on Blondie’s official website yesterday. The video is an electro-pop gem that nods to the fabled West 14th Street nightclub of the same name which attracted the most outrageous downtown luminaries and self-made superstars in the 90’s. The video evokes the famous theme nights of the club with a supernatural twist.
In addition to the launch of ‘Panic of Girls’, Blondie will be touring the UK and Europe this summer, playing a selection of the biggest and best festivals, as well as a number of headline dates. They’ll be sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in music today such as Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Scissor Sisters, Jessie J, Weezer, Bruno Mars and more.
