Future strengthens craft portfolio with new Editor appointment

Future, the special-interest media group and the UK’s leading craft publisher, has announced the appointment of Jane Toft as Editor for its new Mollie Makes magazine.

Jane moves into this full time role from her previous position as co-editor of the launch edition of Mollie Makes in May.

With 25 years’ experience in magazine publishing Jane has worked with many major publishing houses in the UK. She was part of the small editorial team that started Future Publishing in the 1980s and was launch Art Director of Needlecraft – Future’s first craft magazine. She has more recently worked as Senior Designer at women’s magazine Candis, and freelance Art Editor across Future’s craft portfolio.

Reporting to Kerry Lawrence, Craft Group Publisher, Jane will make sure that Mollie Makes consolidates on an amazing debut issue, continuing to grow both in print sales and via online channels, ensuring that Future retains a market leading position in Craft.

Jane was an integral member of the core Mollie Makes launch team. She will manage the four person editorial team, and continue to work closely with editorial consultant and former co-editor Janet Meadowcroft to refine the Mollie Makes brand.

Jane says: “I’m delighted to accept the position of Editor of Mollie Makes. I’m extremely passionate about the brand and will be working with an expert team to drive it forward and continue to bring fresh, inspiring craft ideas to our readers.”

Kerry adds: “This appointment recognises Jane’s extensive experience in the craft market, her superb visual flair and unique knowledge of the Mollie Makes brand. Jane will spearhead a team who live and breath craft, ensuring our staff are as passionate as our readers about their subject. Mollie Makes has enjoyed great success so far, and Jane is the ideal Editor to help build on these achievements.”

Issue 2 of Mollie Makes is on sale now priced at 4.99.
