15/2/12 Total Film, the modern movie brand for film fans, has partnered with mobile image recognition and augmented reality platform Blippar, to create the ultimate interactive print issue.
In a Future first, the issue enables readers to bring the front cover and pages within the magazine to life via their smartphones and the free Blippar application.
The interactive content includes the ability for readers to turn themselves into a Total Film cover star, simply by hovering their iPhone or iPad over the cover, which can then be shared via Facebook, Twitter or email. Other interactive facets include an exclusive preview of Ray Winstone’s new film Elfie Hopkins, behind the scenes footage with stars including Emily Atack and Aneurin Barnard, a look inside Total Film’s offices and the ability to get involved on the Total Film forums. There are also commercial opportunities for readers to purchase DVDs straight from the magazine itself.
Jane Crowther, editor of Total Film says “The Blippar experience is a fantastic opportunity for our readers to even further engage in the magazines cutting-edge content. The interactive features are seamlessly integrated throughout the magazine, even allowing readers to star on the front cover and connect directly to our forums, making this our most interactive, futuristic issue to date.”
Clair Porteous, Film Group Publisher says “This is a perfect example of how Total Film is engaging with new interactive technologies that allow our readers to get even closer to the magazine by bringing the content & advertising alive through unique video.”
Stephen Shaw, Opportunities Director at Blippar says “Our platform provides publishers with a digital bridge to take readers seamlessly from the page to digital content within seconds – whether that’s trailers, exclusive interviews or even a chance to buy products like DVDs straight from the magazine’s reviews. Our platform also gives publishers an unrivalled ability to see which parts of their publications are most engaging and gives them a potential new revenue stream through mobile.”
The interactive issue of Total Film goes on-sale tomorrow.
