T3 Announces Finalists For T3 Gadget Awards 2012

SAMSUNG & ASUS LEAD FINALISTS WITH TEN NOMINATIONS EACH

APPLE FOLLOWS CLOSELY BEHIND WITH NINE

VOTING NOW OPEN - T3.com/awards

23/07/12 T3 has announced the finalists for its sixth annual T3 Gadget Awards, celebrating the very best in the glittering world of technology.

Revered as the ‘Oscars of the gadget world’ the T3 Gadget Awards, in association with Qualcomm, recognise and honour the gadgets, software and personalities who have intrigued, inspired and wowed the world over the past 12 months.

Samsung and ASUS top the finalists with ten nominations each, beating Apple – perceived by many to be leaders in the world of consumer technology – who trails behind with nine. ASUS also boasts the most nominated gadget in form of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime, which will be pitted against the Apple iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S3 in the most coveted award of the evening, Gadget of the Year.

The ever-popular Gadget Personality of the Year category will be fought out via a public Twitter vote. The shortlist includes tech-savvy public figures such as The Gadget Show presenter Pollyanna Woodward, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright, the BBC’s technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones and journalist and online video entrepreneur Hermione Way.

Spread over 19 categories, voting is now open for the public to help decide which devices, apps and brands will reign supreme at the star-studded ceremony.

T3 Editor, Luke Peters, says: “With almost one million reader votes cast last year and the support of a hand-picked panel of tech experts, the T3 Gadget Awards truly recognise the greats in the technology world. With a fantastically varied shortlist of products and manufacturers, this year’s Awards look set to be one of the most hotly contested we’ve ever seen.”

Winners will be decided by reader votes and a panel of expert industry judges, and will be announced at the T3 Gadget Awards 2012 ceremony at Old Billingsgate in London on October 8th.
