Total Film Unveils Hotlist Awards – Celebrating The Hottest In The World Of Film

  • Avengers Assemble scoops Hottest Film and Hottest Scene
  • Tom Hiddleston beats cast mates Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth to Hottest Actor
  • Over 240,000 reader votes cast

With almost a quarter of a million votes received, Total Film unveils its infamous Hotlist awards, celebrating what’s firing up the world of film right now and looking ahead to the cinematic events which will shape tomorrow.

Spread over 12 categories, the Total Film Hotlist awards are the definitive gauge of the hottest movies and performances readers have loved and are gagging for.

The super heroic Avengers Assemble proves to be one of the hottest movies of the moment, not only scooping the coveted Hottest Film and Hottest Scene awards, but also rewarding the man behind it, Joss Whedon with Hottest Director.

Hollywood’s favourite Brit, Tom Hiddleston – who plays Loki in the Avengers Assemble – beat off extremely stiff competition from the likes of Robert Downey Jr, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling to clinch Hottest Actor.

Tom Hiddleston says: “I am absolutely astonished. To any and everyone who voted for me: thank you. To be nominated in such exalted company was honour enough, but this really is the icing on the cake. Actors can’t call themselves actors without an audience to watch them, and the idea that you’re all out there and believing in the work I do is a source of enormous pride.”

Snow White & Huntsman star Kristen Stewart grabs Hottest Actress, fighting off Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson to the title.

Elsewhere, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey proves to be the most anticipated of the movies yet to be released, winning Hottest Trailer whilst the women stamp their mark on the proceedings with The Iron Lady’s screenwriter Abi Morgan winning Hottest Writer and 26 year old Lena Dunham being crowned Hottest New Filmmaker.

On the small screen, BBC drama Sherlock triumphs as Hottest TV Show with Benedict Cumberbatch’s mesmerising performances ensuring the programme goes from strength to strength.

Total Film Associate Editor, Rosie Fletcher, says: “With almost a quarter of a million votes cast, the Total Film Hotlist awards truly take the temperature of what’s happening in film right now, celebrating everything our readers loved over the past 12 months and can’t wait to see in the next 12 months.
