World Renowned Broadcaster, Author, Novelist & Journalist…Gavin Esler to Host The Inaugural Progressive Music Awards In Association With Curriencies.co.uk

WEDNESDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER

KEW GARDENS

Prog Magazine who recently announced the first annual Orange Amplification presents the Progressive Music Awards, in association with currencies.co.uk, are delighted to announce that award winning television and radio broadcaster, novelist and journalist Gavin Esler will be the awards first ever host.

Taking place at the stunning, verdant and unique environs of Kew Gardens, London on Wednesday 5th September. The awards will celebrate the biggest achievers in the world of progressive music. The afternoon-cum-evening event will be a sit-down dinner, and will play host to approximately 200 people.

Gavin Esler is one of the most respected journalists in the world. Host of the BBC’s Newsnight and Dateline London, author of five novels and a non-fiction book, he has interviewed the world’s leaders including Baroness Thatcher, David Cameron, President Clinton, President Carter and Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega, but it is his love of prog music that has brought him to host the inaugural Progressive Music Awards.

Gavin Esler says: “I am absolutely delighted to be involved in the first Progressive Music Awards. It’s been a long time coming. I grew up listening to bands ranging from King Crimson and Jethro Tull to Colisseum and Pink Floyd. Prog Rock is a great British invention and it’s time we celebrated and rewarded not just past greatness but also the inventiveness of today’s bands who are successors to this extraordinary British success story.”

Associate sponsors for this year’s award ceremony are www.currencies.co.uk. The award-winning foreign currency exchange company has a long-standing relationship with Future, publishers of Prog Magazine. Their involvement in the long standing Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards, has helped them establish themselves as a stalwart in the music industries foreign currency exchange.

Prog Magazine has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2009, and has had a market-defying three years at the forefront of the prog scene. Originally part of the Classic Rock Magazine brand, Prog became its own entity this year and continues to find success, and The Progressive Music Awards are a credit to this. Having been embraced by prog’s affluent and notably dedicated cult following, the magazine has established itself at the heart of this most unique and underground of rock scenes.
