16/08/12 Future’s market leading iPad edition of T3 today becomes the first brand to produce an ABC Digital Publications Certificate, delivering industry-leading transparency in the emerging interactive tablet magazine market.
The number of digital publications that do not fall within the current digital editions rules is growing as new digital platforms are developed. The new certificate from ABC allows publishers to clearly indicate digital publication circulation.
T3’s Tablet edition is distinct from the print brand and comes complete with specific interactive advertising – Future publishing wanted to emphasize this and differentiate the product from digital editions which are direct replicas of the print version and chose the Digital Publication Certificate as the ideal way to do this.
T3’s groundbreaking interactive Tablet edition has continuously pushed the boundaries of digital publishing, and was recently named Digital Product Of The Year at the Professional Publishers Association Awards 2012.
Since the inception of Apple’s Newsstand in October 2011, T3 has seen exceptional digital growth. Today’s ABC audited Digital Publication circulation for the period January to June 2012 is 17,682. The issue by issue breakdown shown on the certificate reveals circulation growth across the period of almost 25%.
Nial Ferguson, Group Publishing Director of Technology, says: “The world of publishing is changing fast, and it is essential that official and trusted measurement methods can track that change.
“Tablet publishing is a huge opportunity and transparency is absolutely crucial. Publishers must not confuse commercial partners by combining numbers from print replica editions with essentially different interactive editions. ABC’s Digital Publication Certificate for the first time delivers audited transparency for publishers and their partners. We’re proud to be the first to produce this new ABC certificate for the interactive monthly edition of T3. Together with the issue by issue circulation breakdown, we are giving advertisers and agencies greater choice and greater knowledge of what they are getting.”
Jan Pitt, Executive Director of Client Services for ABC, added: “ABC recognised the industry need for digital publication standards and worked quickly to develop the standards in January. I am delighted to welcome T3 as the first ABC certified digital publication. By becoming the first ABC certified digital publication T3 has shown its desire to stay ahead of the curve. I am sure T3 will benefit from the ABC stamp of trust when demonstrating its brand reach to media buyers.”
Other Future brands including Total Film, Edge and MacFormat will be publishing Digital Publications Certificates at the next concurrent release in February 2013.
