Less than twelve hours after the launch announcement of the new iPhone 5, Future’s market-leading MacFormat and Tap! The iPhone and iPad Magazine has unveiled an interactive digital magazine to help customers find out about the new iPhone 5’s technology.
Built using Future’s FutureFolio software, the special edition magazine The Complete Guide to iPhone 5 is available for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users, priced at 69p. It offers a comprehensive experience using video, searchable text and interactive images to guide users through the features of the hotly anticipated iPhone 5, as unveiled yesterday evening at Apple’s San Francisco briefing.
The Tap! team worked through the night to get the guide ready for launch this morning, offering readers a product that offers simple ways to get the lowdown on their prospective new purchase.
With questions abounding on just what the new iPhone 5 will be able to do, the special Tap! guide includes galleries of photos, reaction, analysis and a video round-table discussion with experts from Tap! and MacFormat.
When the Tap! and MacFormat teams released a free special edition app last March for the new iPad 3 with retina display, it was downloaded over 115,000 times.
Christopher Phin, Tap!’s Editor says:
“This kind of publishing is hugely exciting. The next morning after Apple announced the iPhone 5, we have published a rich digital magazine about it for iPad and iPhone, packed with gorgeous pictures, video, authoritative buying advice and more. And while Tap! and MacFormat have been creating interactive iPad editions for many months, this was the first time we translated that full experience to the iPhone and iPod touch too.
“Defining what ‘an iPhone magazine’ ought to be and how it should behave is, for many publishers, a holy grail; tackling that challenge head-on was a terrific learning experience for us – and I think we’ve made something special.”
Ian Robson, Tap!’s Publisher adds:
“Using the iPhone 5 announcement as a platform to showcase Future’s first dual iPhone/iPad HD product was inevitably a time-sensitive challenge. The team that left the office at 08:30 this morning can be hugely proud that they have set the bar as to what smartphone magazines should give their audience.”
Future’s unique combination of expertise on Apple products and technical know-how has enabled the publisher to launch this new magazine on Newsstand in remarkable time, marking how Future remains a clear leader in the digital field.
