Future named top digital consumer publisher at PPA Digital Awards 2012

  • Award follows Future scooping AOP Consumer Digital Publisher Award for second year in a row in July

27/09/12 Future, the international specialist media group and leading digital publisher, last night picked up the Digital Publisher of the Year (Consumer Media) Award at the PPA Digital Publishing Awards 2012.

The win underlines Future’s position as a leading global digital publisher and follows Future’s recent award as Best Digital Publisher – Consumer at the Association of Online Publishers Awards. Future is the only media company to have won the headline AOP award two years in a row.

The PPA Judges said: “Always ahead of the pack, Future continues to impress, through developing its own in-house video production capability and app creation software, to the use of video advertising and interactive tablet editions. A well-deserved recipient of Consumer Media Digital Publisher of the Year.”

Future CEO Mark Wood adds: “It is quite something to win the PPA award for Digital Publisher of the year right after we took the same title at the annual AOP awards. We are delighted and grateful. It is quite an accolade that the rest of the UK media industry clearly sees Future as leading the way in developing successful new digital business models.”

The PPA Digital Awards continue what has been an award-winning year for Future. Alongside the AOP Best Digital Publisher – Consumer accolade, Future also netted the prestigious AOP Launch of the Year Award for its work making its portfolio of more than 65 products ready for Apple’s Newsstand’s launch last October. Future is among the most successful publishers worldwide on Apple’s Newsstand and has delivered in excess of £5m in revenues through the platform since Newsstand’s launch. Future has also developed its own app creation software solution, Future Folio, to create interactive digital editions.

Newsstand has opened up a raft of new opportunities for Future’s specialist brands – 45% of our sales are subscriptions, 80% of our market is outside the UK and close to 90% of subscribers are new customers.

In June Future also scooped two prizes at the prestigious PPA Awards, with T3 winning Digital Product Of The Year for their tablet edition, and International Consumer Magazine Of The Year. T3 is the biggest lifestyle magazine on Apple’s Newsstand.
