10/10/12 Rick Wakeman and Classic Rock Magazine have teamed up to exclusively release ‘Journey To The Centre Of The Earth’, the exclusive re-recorded masterpiece presented in its entirety for the first time.

Released on 20th November and available on pre-order now at www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/rickwakeman. This brand new recording incorporates 20 minutes of new material cut from the original, as well as material unearthed from the original score that had long been thought lost.

‘Journey To The Centre Of The Earth’ was Wakeman’s second solo album and was originally release in May 1974. It was received with both commercial and critical acclaim earning him a Ivor Novello Award and to date has sold in excess of 14 million copies.

This exclusive Fanpack features the album in full plus a 132-page magazine that forms the ultimate sleevenotes to accompany it. There are also extensive and exclusive interviews with Rick Wakeman and the musicians, conductor and production staff involved in the recording of this landmark record.

Rick Wakeman says, “When I first envisaged Journey and did the demo it was up to almost fifty-five minutes long, but the label, A&M, only wanted a single album, so I cut material, dropped two songs, I knew I had to lose sixteen or so minutes. Years later, I miraculously recovered the water-damaged original score, which had been lost, and finally completed and recorded Journey, this version is how it was always meant to be heard.”

Chris Ingham, Publisher of Classic Rock, says: “Future’s Fanpack format has already proven to be a huge success as it creates a whole new retail environment to sell premium priced albums. To be exclusively re-releasing a seminal album like ‘Journey To The Centre Of The Earth’ is fantastic.”
