LAUNCH 26TH OCTOBER 2012

25/10/12 Future, the international specialist media group and leading digital publisher, launches the only official Microsoft Windows 8 magazine, Windows: The Official Magazine, for worldwide distribution

As the only Microsoft-approved publisher, this is the latest title launch in the Technology portfolio for Future. This new Windows 8 title is a multi-platform release, helping readers get more from their lives through technology. A magazine with a lifestyle feel, it showcases the best new products, explains how to use them to their full potential and reveals how they can enhance all aspects of life from travel and sport to cooking and entertainment.

Windows: The Official Magazine will be released concurrently with the biggest launch in Microsoft’s history, the release of Windows 8, and Windows Phone 8.

A unique and extensive multi-platform marketing partnership will be conducted on the launch of the magazine through Future and Microsoft. Using the ISSUU pre-launch sampler*, (see http://bit.ly/RNciI4) Future are targeting over 2 million impressions via keyword targeted cross-portfolio website reskins. Microsoft are using their weekly content partnership with the Official Magazine to help promote via its Windows Facebook page (currently standing at 7.5 million global likes) and on the Microsoft Windows Global Newsletter, currently with over 2 million subscribers.

The digital version of the publication will be available from the Windows 8 Store, a first for Future Publishing. Print pre-orders and subscriptions available at

Editor-in-Chief, Adam Ifans, says, “Good-looking, smart technology is becoming a fundamental part of all our lives. The new Official Windows 8 magazine is for everyone, not just computing enthusiasts, helping them get more from their lives through the gadgets and devices they own. Windows 8 is a step-change in the way the world interacts with computers and Microsoft’s first serious foray in to the world of tablets and Apps. Today’s technology users want content that helps them get more from their lives and that’s what we’re delivering.”

Publisher of Windows: The Official Magazine, Ian Robson, says, “The decision to re-boot the Official Windows franchise for today’s lifestyle technology consumer was made over a year ago. We’ve been working closely with Microsoft since then to develop a multi-platform title that exploits our unique access delivering fresh and exciting content, bestowing the benefits of lifestyle-enhancing technology to the masses rather than just the elite.

“Leading industry analysts are predicting that Windows 8 will be a massive success, with over 500 million devices expected to ship through 2013. Windows: The Official Magazine will be on hand to help choose the right device from the wealth of manufacturer options, but then ensure that you are inspired to use the device to its fullest potential.”

Adam Ifans is available for interview and additionally to comment as an expert on all of the new Microsoft products.

Ian Robson is available for interview about the magazine.

* An embargoed launch issue sampler will replace the pre-launch sampler on the 26th October
