Future Games holds a unique position in the global games media market, combining the strongest games industry partnerships with an innovative multi-channel approach. We are the only games media owner with audience reach across print, digital editions, online, social, video, coverdiscs, mobile, on-console and events.
The consumer engagement of Future’s games brands is at a record high, delivering a global reach of over 15.1 million, up 14% year-on-year. More than 8.8 million global users visit Future’s games websites, and this figure is growing every month. Video is a central part of our digital strategy – the Games portfolio has a dedicated video studio, and records more than four million views across our YouTube sites every month.
GamesRadar, the premier source for everything video games, is the planet’s third biggest games information website. The website was redesigned in 2012 as part of an ongoing development process that is already resulting in more repeat visits and higher levels of engagement. CVG, the world’s longest-established games media brand, has reaffirmed its position as the leading games news site, with monthly visitors of more than 2.5 million.
Meanwhile PCGamer.com, launched in June 2010, remains the world’s biggest PC gaming website. Bringing more than 15 years of PC authority online, it now reaches over 4.8 million international dedicated PC gamers every month, up 45% year-on-year.
Future publishes official titles for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo and licenses these titles into further territories. In 2012 we revamped the website for Official Nintendo Magazine to coincide with the launch of Nintendo’s Wii U games console, whilst OfficialPlayStationMagazine.co.uk and OXM.co.uk both recorded significant increases in traffic.
All three main games consoles carry our content. On PlayStation 3 we have extended our Sony partnership to produce Access – weekly HD video content. On Xbox 360 we publish the monthly OXM Report and we publish Nintendo TV via Nintendo platforms.
The Edge brand continues its global expansion with an award-winning, fully interactive digital edition on iPad and a growing website. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Edge offers games professionals and enthusiasts unrivalled insight, analysis and opinion on game design, art and development.
Our annual Golden Joystick Awards celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2012 and is the world’s biggest and best games awards voted for by the general public. Dubbed ‘The Oscars of Gaming’ by the BBC, we garnered over four million votes last year, almost doubling Joysticks’ own 2011 Guinness World Record. For the first time ever, the ceremony was also watched online by gamers across the world thanks to an exclusive live streaming deal with YouTube.
Future announced a deal with The Pokémon Company International this year to launch Official Pokémon Magazine in the UK. The magazine is a one-stop shop for everything Pokémon, providing UK fans with the ultimate guide to all the latest Pokémon video game, TV series, film and Pokémon Trading Card Game information.
