Future collaborates with Google on Web Stories content

Global media platform Future PLC has been working in partnership with Google to provide content for the latest iteration of the tech giant’s Web Stories format.

Content from PC Gamer and GamesRadar+ has been reworked to feature on Web Stories which was launched last week onto the Google ap in to the USA, Brazil and India

The company reached out to the Future brands to join its early access program and  in recognition of their position as key gaming partners.

Sam Robson, Future’s Director of Audience said: “The Web Stories format is an interesting and engaging way to both create and consume content across Google products and we were pleased that Google approached us to help kickstart the ecosystem with gaming content.

“To date we have reworked 114 pieces of content for Web Stories which have in turn generated just over 1.5m pageviews.

“Whether across search, Youtube or advertising, Google has been an important partner to Future for many years. We’re excited by the potential of their new Web Stories format and particularly how it can engage audiences within the Discover platform.

“Web Stories have given Future the opportunity to be creative with our content and create engaging formats almost mixing the best of our print and digital skills. The format should offer interesting and engaging formats for premium advertisers and we’re looking forward to seeing where Google takes Web Stories next.”

More than 800million people use the Google Discover app each month. Previously, the Web Stores functionality has only been available as part of its search engine
